1991 is committed to sourcing, producing, packaging, and shipping our products with sustainability in mind. 

 

With every order purchased through our store, we plant a tree and purchase carbon offsets to reduce our carbon footprint and neutralize our shipping emissions. Not only is our packaging recyclable and biodegradable, but it's also made from 100% recycled materials.

 

Carbon Neutral Shipping

Transportation used to ship orders burns fossil fuels and generates carbon emissions. Those emissions trap heat, leading to climate change. For every package shipped, roughly one kilogram of carbon is emitted into the atmosphere. A carbon offset reduces the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere so that increased greenhouse gases elsewhere have a net impact of 0. Carbon offsets can include projects that store carbon in long-term reservoirs, like trees, soil, or wetlands. We calculate and purchase carbon offset credits that fund the Jari Pará Forest Conservation Project in the Amazon rainforest with each shipped order. This project covers 496,988 hectares of tropical forest in Brazil, an area the size of the state of Delaware, protecting more than 2,400 species of flora and fauna within it.

We've partnered with Ecologi so that with every purchase, we will plant a tree across the world. Tree planting is a great way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the environment.

100% Recycled Shipping Materials

From our packaging for shipping to our candle jars, we use 100% recycled materials whenever possible. We do not use any plastic when shipping our products. Our candle vessels are made with recycled glass and are also recyclable. We encourage everyone to repurpose their candle vessel after their candle has finished. 

All of our candles are made with an all-natural coconut and soy wax blend, organic essential oils, 100% phthalate-free fragrance oils, and organic hemp wicks. Our fragrance oils are free of carcinogens, mutagens, and toxins. Learn more about our ingredients here.
